I think the word boujee/bougie is not being used correctly here. Its being used in a negative way sorta interchangeably with hood/ratchet/tacky/unattractive. Bougie is not the opposite of classy. The two are very similar. Bougie is often referred to as fancy instead of something negative.

  7. De'Jah Perkins on August 12, 2021 at 9:59 pm

Love that you specified the difference between boujie/classy.

I am so tempted to change my style to the classic style. I am 30 and no longer a teenager but I am having such an issue with trying to grab the attention of my future husband. Wherever he is.

Thank you , for saving our community in the day-and-age of the trashy look becoming so mainstream. The more regular black women explore this classy look it changes what we attract, how we feel, and what could be. I have noticed since I dress more classy people actually treat you better, and the people I attract now are of more quality.

Are you black or white I remember when boujee . was correct and classy. Many black people wanted to be boujee it was a culture not a style and those blacks had money. Do your research.

  18. Soumya Pande on August 12, 2021 at 10:11 pm

As a dusky, overweight indian lady with 3c hair, I’m glad channels like this exist. They’re a lot more relatable than channels showing white women and primarily catering to a certain beauty standard. They’re nice and I’ve learnt a lot from them as well, but certain topics such as natural hair(anything other than straight hair or blow dried hair) is rarely if ever addressed there

    How refreshing!
    Loved those natural nails.
Super grateful forthe boujee vs classy comparison – I see people of all ethnicities and complexions are capable of dressing eitherway so, I find that tip very helpful to point out and keep in mind.

Thank you! Have a wonderful day ❤

  35. TULIP on August 12, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Great video! I am streamlining my wardrobe to be all classic. To do a classic style you can wear things that skim your figure but DO so tight it looks like you were poured in. If it’s gaping or pulling anywhere it is TOO tight!

Focus on good quality basics. Less is more with this style. You can find great pieces second hand. Window shop the better stores so you can recognize the labels if you happen to thrift. Quality is better than quantity. You don’t need labels and too much flash with it. You don’t need designer necessarily especially when you’re starting out. You could even sew your own clothing and it would be just fine.

Stay OUT of the leggings, hoodies and the like. You can wear slimmer sneakers preferably in a solid colors. Unless you are doing something active stay out of the athletic wear.

    What does it mean "Boujee"?

  42. The Kween on August 12, 2021 at 10:40 pm

I find this a bit offensive. Why is there someone who is not a black women explaining how a black women can “look classy?” we don’t need anyone to analyze our style and correlate our race to class.I find this to be a reach and disrespectful. Black women have reigned elegant since the beginning of time we don’t need someone’s half ass analysis on what is considered classy like as if we were ever lacking in that area in the first place,we carry that no matter what. I’m sorry I’m tired of seeing other races putting their opinions and ideas on our bodies and expression for attention. We have to stop letting things like this slide black women just because observe our culture it doesn’t mean it isn’t our sacred story and that includes clothing. To try and correlate our race and class like this and then try to make it sound helpful and necessary to add “for black women” & “tips” is just tasteless and shady.

As a Married gentleman (outsider), I hope I may contribute to this wonderful channel….
Ladies, less is more. Quality Gentlemen attract feminine, articulate and well dressed women. The key is to be confident in your skin, attire (clothing that fits well to your body type) and most of all have impeccable etiquette…

  48. Spider Girl on August 12, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I hope this doesn’t offend you, but please can you speak louder in your videos? I have my volume up to 100 and can still barely hear anything. I’ve noticed this in 5 videos now 🙁

  49. belleandchic1 on August 12, 2021 at 10:46 pm

I appreciate you including the beauty of natural hair.

  50. J. A on August 12, 2021 at 10:48 pm

My tips are: if you have a clothing staple that’s good enough quality to hang on to for a while: GET IT TAILORED! $15 Investment will make you look so much more polished. Also, DIP NAILS. Short or almond, chill and neutral dip nails take 20 mins.
