Love the inclusion of dressing on a budget. And the theory can be accessible no matter your budget.

The speech was awesome. I would say if you moved to one of the Western countries – stay away from junk clothes and junk food. Preserve your own sense of style, which is guarantied to serve you better long term. Americans or Canadians are confused about those topics and are definitely not the right role models.

I have noticed people focus a lot on fashion these days. It almost seems sort of poser’ish to dress in a way that will make other people will perceive you as being adventurous and interesting. We all know there’s some savage in a grey T shirt who’s living that life for real and not just walking down the street playing dress up. BUT it almost seems like fashion is so important to people in this generation that it’s more important than your actual skill or knowledge. Like in skateboarding, my friend is an influencer who dresses in style, we were talking about a guy who comes to the park who does insane tricks, he said "yeah he’s really good but the way he dresses is so bad, it cancels out his skill". This is the same argument I’ve been hearing more and more by people who try to flaunt accomplishments or lifestyle, that how you look reflects what you do or have done. Anyone can put on fancy clothes, but not everyone cares more about grinding than they do about clothes. Maybe I’m not really going anywhere with this comment, but that’s just something I’ve noticed.

Thank you for this. I was so insecure of how I dress myself up. I want to try something new always but I’m scared of being judged for you know "stylish" .Because everyone in here expects everyone to be simple and not to stand out or else you’ll be the talk of the town.

This was definitely one of the best video I’ve ever watched! And the idea of seeing outfits as lab coats is incredible. Some things really boost up your confidence and I would surely love to search for my lab coat❤

This year I was reinventing myself, and the things I started with where my wardrobe and my haircut. It definitely helped me to feel more myself, be brave to stand out and gave me the impulse to change my decisions in other areas of life.💪

Am i the only one here who feels dressing casually allows you to concentrate more on the work and as a result it get’s done more effectively & efficiently whereas dressing really good in addition to feeling quite uncomfortable makes u unfocused 🧐🤔🙄

As a person who loves fashion I expected more… the speech was filled with obviousness, felt like she discovered clothing yesterday

  34. Võ Huệ on November 23, 2021 at 1:43 pm

This is the way I live. I want to be a beautiful woman and i want be happy everyday in my life. I chose to wear the nicest for today not on special events. When i prepare to go out, i think in my mind what i wear so i would feel confident and look beautiful if i met my future boyfriend.

  35. Zübeyde on November 23, 2021 at 1:43 pm

I wish I could like this video for a thousand times. The part that she talks about Steve Jobs etc. is important because on so many motivation accounts on social media, or in the interviews of great authors and scientists you can see that, this is the true thing to do. Not caring yourself. Minimizing the "humanish needings" and just working harder. But as she says, you are way more productive when you feel happy and confident. This is important for me because I want to be a scientist; and in order to be successful, I even thought of not to exercise and do my skincare. This is horrible. Of course I changed my mind but thinking that for even just a little moment shows us how badly we are affected by this whole productivity thing. And I know I am not alone. Anyways, guys let’s exercise and dress up nicely and work on the things we want to achieve. Have a good day!

  36. srishti kher on November 23, 2021 at 1:45 pm

And is there anyone who feels more confident in casual clothing than in good ones?

Underwhelming and cringey speech. Shouldn’t someone with a ted talk be required to have original research?
