just finding out barney’s ny has died (don’t live there so didn’t know) is the most shocking. im surpised it was just #10
The limited did not deserve to go out of business they were really nice! I had no idea they were having problems I went to the mall and then literally found out that they were out of business!
Many of these stores were never in Chicago.
I’m in the midwest and none of these stores mean anything to me. Snobbish thinking, believing we all identify these stores, as usual.
anyone remember anchor blue? loved that store!!! much better then pac sun. is that place even still around?
Dont forget about DEB
If you go into a retail shop please treat it with respect. Don’t trash it/mess it up and please treat the associates like people.
Love the way she pronounced Puerto Rico while talking about Wet seal!!!

Who could forget Delias, The Limited, and Wet Seal?!?
I never shopped at these stores but they were so popular when I was in middle school & HS. I also remember The Limited 2 and
Justice, but I was an adult by then.
I was depressed for years after Loehmann’s closed. Their Back Room was legendary. TJ Maxx and Marshall’s could NEVER!
I would like FAO Schwarz. that store was my childhood!!! I miss it!
Man Limited Too was so fun when I was a kid.
Also what about Bebe?
Lord and Taylor was a store I was sad to see close
It’s always the same way, where ever you live in any country, you favourite clothes store, always disappears in the end. I now buy from mail order people or my large local supermarket, rarely do I risk buying clothes elsewhere because this always happens. I’m from the UK, one shop I used to use disappeared because it belong to a big company called Arcadia, whose entire empire collapsed. One other one went online and now sells expensive fast fashion junk. So it’s more reliable sources for me, however one of them has so declined in quality, I haven’t brought anything off them in months. This is all so sad. Added to that some of my most favourite old clothes, come from a shop that left the UK years ago and went back to the continent, C&A.
I remember bradlees and Ames too and of course building #19

There are Belks in Tennessee…
It frustrates me to death that people always rely on online shopping.
I mean I’m glad that online shopping exists but does it always have to be relied upon?
Actually being there is more of a fun experience rather than browsing through your dang computer can’t anybody realize that? 🙁
Sears also sold clothes
I have never heard of most of those stores, as a Canadian we didn’t have any of those here except Espirt.
But up here we had a big clothing store called Zellers that was bought out by Target. We also had one called Woolco which was bought by Walmart and that’s how they expanded into Canada.
Arden B!?
I think you should have included Fashion Bug, Marshall Fields, Montgomery Ward, Bullock’s, I. Magnin, or Bon Marché instead. At least an honorable mention for those stores!
I think I remember Limited Too
ever heard of sears or at least christopher & banks both are clothing stores also went bye bye heard about delia’s but the rest not so much
Judys
How did bebe not make the list lol I just knew they would have
I shopped at wet seal faithfully throughout the early 2000s and the birthday discount was always clutch!!!!
Dots, Debs or Charlotte Russe anyone??
i don’t care what the news says-khols killed mervyns!!!
I spent my late teens working and spending my pay check at Filene’s, discovered the best one downtown by Wall Street and across from the world trade centers. They had truly high end clothing, even minks, at discount prices. Now Barney’s was the place I went shopping for my first stylist job at a photo shoot. I miss that beautiful store😢
I really miss DEB Shops having brick and mortar stores. Their plus size selection was amazing. I also got all of my school dance dresses there. I’m still glad they exist online though.
Never even heard of Delia’s and I graduated high school in 2013?
Does anyone remember the awesome teen store Rave?
Wet seal really bummed me out. But I only started shopping there cuz they closed Rave that one should of been on the list.
I miss being able to shop at a Juicy couture store!
Filene’s. My mother is a shoe addict n this was one of faves. I spent my childhood there
Women’s plus sized retailer Avenue closed all their stores and is now strictly online. I miss my local store. 😢
I miss Dayton’s. I loved wandering around the flagship store in downtown Minneapolis when I was little. It represented Christmas magic to me as a kid. Even their mall locations were always the fanciest store in the area.
OMG! I remember Mervyns and Wet Seal!
coldwater creek
Oh, hey, there’s Andy Cohen fitting a shoe on SJP.
Am I the only one who recognized Barbie Ferreira from Euphoria in the Wet Seal ad?
I loved Mr. RAGS in the mall had some really cool shirts in the 90s
I liked Filene’s.
What about “Rave”?
