y2k fashion trends that are about to make a comeback ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ‘›๐Ÿ‘–

i’m finally back with another video essay! a little less movie focused and more about fashion in general. as someone who actually lived through these trends it’s pretty weird seeing y2k outfits and fashion return, but that’s probably how people felt about the 90s comeback as well. what y2k trend are you most excited about?

I feel like to wear low-rise jeans you have to have a flat, toned stomach. The only girls I’ve seen online wearing low-rise bottoms are skinny and toned. If I were to wear low-rise jeans I’d look like the Michelin Man

  5. Rebekah Macy on July 1, 2021 at 1:38 am

As someone who stands at a whopping 5โ€™1โ€, high rise anything has been the bane of my existence

  6. kali ora on July 1, 2021 at 1:42 am

So much doom and gloom in the comments. I wore low rise jeans as a teen and wans’t stick thin and I look GOOD! Wear whatever you want y’all!!

Anyway I’ve personally been trying to wear styles from late 90s/early 00s for a number of years now and this def explains why it’s been so much easier to find this type of thing lately. Kind of excited but dreading that I’ll look super lame and uncool another 5 years later. ๐Ÿ˜”

Von Dutch was early 2000’s Supreme

  8. Elle Shak on July 1, 2021 at 1:42 am

The number of time Paris Hilton is shown as an example here is very telling. Itโ€™s probably not an overstatement to say she is a icon of the 2000s (and especially its fashion). Incidentally, she is having something of a resurgence atm. 20 year cycle effect ๐Ÿค”

  9. ghost who likes movies on July 1, 2021 at 1:43 am

**Cries** I hate 2000s but ur right

  10. Ruby Smith on July 1, 2021 at 1:44 am

I’m sorry but I can’t stand low rise jeans

  11. PileCrusher on July 1, 2021 at 1:44 am

oh gosh, I hate 2000โ€™s fashion, the current trends are skyrocketing my dysphoria and itโ€™s going to be even worse.. Iโ€™m glad that people are finding what they like in terms of fashion but if 2000โ€™s fashion is going back into style then not a lot of clothing will be available for plus sized people. Because the feminine side fashion in the 2000โ€™s focused on being skinny all the time, this skyrocketed EDs. I am muscular (to the point of a jojo character) but not even low rise jeans would look good on me.

  12. Sabrina Barreau on July 1, 2021 at 1:45 am

Baby Phat will be a hard come back she fell off before the y2k era even ended lol.

  13. Apryl on July 1, 2021 at 1:45 am

Anybody else get the Kate Spade ad with the new logo bags?

  14. Karla Ileana on July 1, 2021 at 1:47 am

๐Ÿคข the absolute WORST. Trashy and terrible taste. Itโ€™s like picking and getting dressed with the eyes closed. Nothing matches and patterns are horrible.
The 2010 whenโ€™re the minimalistic, indie, grunge, hipster era started, thatโ€™s when things got better.

  17. Dojacatsโ€ข on July 1, 2021 at 1:49 am

If anyone wants to follow these trends I recommend you watch degrassi the early seasons (mainly s3) they actually are teens in the early 2000s

  18. X MusiCuteee X on July 1, 2021 at 1:50 am

Exposed thongs are back which i found-no hate-weird like they are called undies for a reason

  19. J M on July 1, 2021 at 1:50 am

Okay but think about how hot weโ€™re gonna look with the modern and early 2000โ€™s fashion mixed like our era is gonna be iconic ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

  20. zaqueen zhane` on July 1, 2021 at 1:51 am

    hell no thats was terrible

  21. เฎ•เฏŠเฎฐเฎฟเฎฒเฏเฎฒเฎพ on July 1, 2021 at 1:52 am

So I could take all my old clothes out and wear them again. The problem is that I don’t fit in them anymore. Maybe I have a small bag somewhere that I can use.

  22. j e n n on July 1, 2021 at 1:52 am

why when she started talking of argyle i thought of harry styles ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  23. disappearingbunny on July 1, 2021 at 1:54 am

I hope the lowrise jean trend stays away, I remember being so insecure about my belly not being flat as young as 10. I feel sorry for all the young people who will feel like they need to have one to be beautiful…

  24. Twinkle Toes on July 1, 2021 at 1:55 am

Can you talk about korean or japanese fashion? I think they have their own fashion unlike other asian countries that sorta following western trends

  25. Katy Mbeke on July 1, 2021 at 1:56 am

10:47 For me the bunny suit is a dilemma, because I think it looks cute, even though I can clearly see that’s not the intention.

  26. muscular 2014 on July 1, 2021 at 1:57 am

I’m excited for alot a women around my age to finally get a chance to dress like one of their celebrities or idols from the 2000s. I was born in 1995 so I was to young for fashion at the time, most of the girls and boys had to wear pure school uniform in elementary and middle school.

  27. scalliewag_ on July 1, 2021 at 1:58 am

20:41 got me fed UP. WHAT YEAR IS IT. I dressed like this in MIDDLE SCHOOL. No one wants to dress like they did 15 years ago ๐Ÿ˜”

  28. T Mq. on July 1, 2021 at 2:01 am

idc how popular low rise jeans get, im never buying them (as a teen who obviously was not around for the first go of them)

  29. gtg on July 1, 2021 at 2:03 am

So the thong trend is back

  30. CG P on July 1, 2021 at 2:03 am

I hate wearing jeans entirely. So I’m glad this means boot cut leggings and colorful, velour athletic clothes might come back. But Indo think the juicy, playboy, and ed hardy logos look completely tacky. But just like the the return of the 90s trends, this is just going to be a mix of everything 2000s yet also new, and it’s gonna be gone before we know it.

  31. hinatachan96 on July 1, 2021 at 2:04 am

Literally anything but…I hate 2000s fashion.

  32. Abracadabra on July 1, 2021 at 2:07 am

Tons of 2000โ€™s stuff really only works if you are skinny or flat chested, so Iโ€™m wondering if the ED culture magazines created will have a revival?

  33. A S on July 1, 2021 at 2:07 am

I saw a girl wearing dress over pants on subway in nyc. She looked good lmao.

  34. Terry Carr on July 1, 2021 at 2:08 am

    emo is already back

  35. Maria on July 1, 2021 at 2:11 am

Please dont let low rise jeans to come back. My belly wont like it.

  36. Alli Dolphin on July 1, 2021 at 2:15 am

People used to look different at the time and unique…. now everyone looks the same….
    Not including masks

  37. Chandlerrr on July 1, 2021 at 2:15 am

The 20s aesthetic is a knock-off version of the 80s aesthetic

  38. Claudia Jade on July 1, 2021 at 2:16 am

Looking back on 2000’s fashion makes me understand why I’ve always been so insecure about my stomach (i.e. wanting it to be flat). So much stomach-exposure, even on the red carpet. You have also given me flashbacks to my (fake) Von dutch denim skirt.

  39. SailorSakura on July 1, 2021 at 2:18 am

Anyone notice that y2k stands for year 2000 just realized that ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

  40. quenotedariayo on July 1, 2021 at 2:18 am

Idk… I just plan on keep wearing my 90s grunge throwback black band shirts and ripped denim jackets. And high waisted jeans, please. Things I didn’t get to wear when I was a teen in the 00s and yes, I wore summer dresses over jeans with colorful Converse and bolero jackets…

  41. Ashley Song on July 1, 2021 at 2:19 am

I STG low rise jeans are just pretty privilege in a pant. The amount of people that can wear them and not get made fun of for not having "the right body type" is so miniscule ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคง

  42. bubblegumbxtch on July 1, 2021 at 2:22 am

Me being hella confused cause it hasn’t been 20 years cause I’m not 20… I then realized I am a few years off being 20…

  43. De'Erykah on July 1, 2021 at 2:23 am

    step 1 : get money.

  44. quenotedariayo on July 1, 2021 at 2:24 am

I’m getting war flashbacks about those exposed thongs

  45. RedRoseSeptember22 on July 1, 2021 at 2:25 am

I’ve never been one to follow trends, I just wear what’s comfortable and looks good on me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  46. zaqueen zhane` on July 1, 2021 at 2:26 am

also love the 8ps but never bring back shoulder pads they are always terrible

  47. Lucas Monroe on July 1, 2021 at 2:27 am

in retrospect you should’ve probably not made that prediction about dresses/skirts over jeans so confidently

  48. stretchkitty21 on July 1, 2021 at 2:30 am

The problem with the low rise jeans was that it was forced in fashion in the 90’s-00’s… There were no other rises for so long. I’m glad that with new trends, stores nowadays usually have other fits and styles still available instead of only what’s trendy.

  49. Kk on July 1, 2021 at 2:31 am

Well this didnโ€™t age well lmfao u really called it

  50. Lefty Lewis on July 1, 2021 at 2:34 am
